It’s time for a little bit of Kardashian flavour again! This time I was inspired by a recent Khloe Kardashian style. Since Khloe visited Amsterdam last month it made me have a closer look at her personal style. I noticed she likes to experiment a lot with different looks, hair & make-up. One look that caught my eye particularly was kind of a goth look she posted on her See more
On octobre 21 it was my birthday. This month I had to much going on, working on projects and illustrations so I decided I would not throw a party this year. I just went to the spa the entire day to relax (just what I needed). My sister Alizia (such a sweetheart) wanted me to still have some kind of little celebration. So, she surprised me a couple of days ago with a royal tea brunch at the hotel Krasnapolsky in Amsterdam. The only thing she told me was to dress with the theme modern renaissance in mind. I was picked up at See more
Urban Outfitters Amsterdam has arrived! Together with my friend Negin I went to visit the flagship store a couple of hours before the official opening. So, we had practically the entire shop to ourselves. It was a great opportunity to have a good look at the interior (which is awesome btw) and the clothes (there is just to much to see). Negin spotted the cutest little pink lunchbox and got it for me as well as for herself. She’s the sweetest! I also tried on this dark blue coat, couldn’t decide if I should get it. What do you think? The thing I love the most at Urban Outfitters is See more
Remember a while ago, I posted about doing a project for Eastpak Artist Studio? Well this is the result. A handmade clutch I created. It’s made from the Eastpak Padded Pak’r®. Me and 55 other artists, designers & celebrities from 14 countries all created something different. We all used the same white basic Eastpak. And let our imagination run wild to give it our signature style. This was a lot of fun to create. However the thought behind Eastpak Artist Studio is not just creative freedom. Together with the DAA organization (Designers Against Aids) we are trying to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS. Especially among young people it’s very important to get more knowledge about the See more
Miley Cyrus The Movement? Yes you read the title right. And yes, you are still on the Mimi in Fashionland blog. Why Miley? Because you must admit she’s got even you looking (and probably talking). Wether it’s good or bad. What is The Movement? A documentary about Miley Cyrus brought to you by MTV. It’s the story behind her recent change of style, music and behavior. Two days ago I was invited by MTV to See more
And yet another illustration. The pinup girl with ginger hair and sultry lingerie. A modern gal with a vintage soul inspired by the most fabulous pinup girls from the past. I was watching a documentary from Rita Hayworth and pictures from the voluptuous Jayne Mansfield this past week. It got me inspired so I started creating this illustration art.
Pinup girls: The Good stuff
I wish that a little piece of that old glamour would come back like in the old movies. The actresses, pinup girls and show girls looked sexy but also very See more
Yesterday evening I attended the Grazia Red Carpet Awards. The award ceremony took place in the Grand hotel in Amsterdam. This is the first time Grazia Netherlands organized this event. With 150 guest seated at beautiful tables with a wonderful dinner the room had a great atmosphere. I was sitting at a table next to See more
Finally, a new video! I published the teaser a couple of months ago. Now the video is online. It’s a short interview and a little peek behind the scenes of what inspires me to make illustrations. Hope you See more
In Antwerp I visited the Fashion Museum (MoMu). They had this amazing exhibition; Silks & Prints from the Abraham archives. During the 1950s and 1960s the famous couturiers Christian Dior, Hubert de Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent and Cristobal Balenciaga worked together with the See more
Lately I’ve been making a lot of colorful work. I love pastels and sometimes bold colors as well. But I used to create lots of black and white sketches. Simply using a black pen. This is one I made exactly 8 weeks ago.
Illustration for someone special
That night I couldn’t fall asleep so I sat up and started drawing this in bed. The next day I found out I lost a very important person in my family. Somebody who See more
